Machine Screws

Machine Screws are designed to be secured in place through the use of a nut or threaded holes. Generally offered in standard coarse thread with some fine pitch thread variants. Machine screws must not be confused with other types of screw, such as Self Tapping or Wood Screws, that have a much more coarse thread that cuts into the receiving material forming thread as it is tightened/screwed into place. Machine screws are used in many fields, including computer equipment, cars, household electricals and large industial machinery and can form a strong fastening when connecting two items together.
Fastener Material Key
A1
A1 Stainless Steel - also known as grade 303. A general purpose grade of stainless steel but with better fabrication/machining properties than grade 304
A2
A2 Stainless Steel - also known as grade 304 or 18/8. A general purpose grade of stainless steel.
A4
A4 Stainless Steel - also known as grade 316 or 18/8/3. A higher corrosion resistant, marine grade of stainless steel.
A4-80
A4-80 Stainless Steel - identical corrosion resistance to A4-70 but with a higher tensile strength equivalent to that of 8.8 high tensile steel.
BO
Black oxide high tensile steel class 12+ - a high tensile non-stainless grade with a black oxide finish offering limited corrosion resistance
BO-10.9
Black Oxide High Tensile Steel Class 10.9 - a high tensile non-stainless grade with a black oxide finish offering limited corrosion resistance.
BRASS
Brass - offers an attractive, corrosion resistant finish.
BZP
Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) Steel - non-stainless standard steel grade offering a basic level of corrosion resistance.
BZP-10.9
Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) Class 10 high tensile steel - a high strength non-stainless grade for screws and bolts, with a basic level of corrosion resistance.
BZP-12.9
Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) high tensile steel class 12 - a higher tensile non-stainless grade for screws and bolts, with a basic level of corrosion resistance.
BZP-8.8
Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) Class 8 high tensile steel - the general purpose non-stainless grade for screws and bolts, with a basic level of corrosion resistance.
BZP-G5
Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) USA grade 5 high tensile steel - equivalent to UK class 8, a general purpose non-stainless grade with a basic level of corrosion resistance.
Duplex
Duplex Stainless Steel 1.4462 - a type of stainless steel, which has greater corrosion resistance than A4 / 316 and a high tensile strength of minimum 700 N/mm2. Also known as 318LN.
MZP
Mechanically Plated Zinc Steel - mechanically plated to help prevent hydrogen embrittlement
Nylon
Plastic (Nylon Polyamide) - a tough lightweight plastic, strong at low temperatures, with excellent resistance to chemicals, and features favourable sliding friction behaviour.
ZnFlk-10.9
Zinc Flake coated high tensile steel class 10 - a higher tensile non-stainless grade for screws and bolts. Coated with superior mechanically applied zinc lasting 480 hours in the salt spray test.
ZnFlk-12.9
Zinc Flake coated high tensile steel class 12 - a higher tensile non-stainless grade for screws and bolts. Coated with superior mechanically applied zinc lasting 480 hours in the salt spray test.
