Automotive Nuts And Bolts

Our Automotive Nuts and Bolts page includes many variants of bolts, screws, nuts and washers that can be used in Automotive repairs, restoration or modification. Comprising Metric and Imperial sizes and offered in A2 and A4 grades of Stainless Steel, Low Carbon Steel and High Tensile Steel. When choosing an Automotive Nut and Bolt it is important to identify your requirements to the spec the Automotive manufacturer has originally intended, being watchful of where specific strength steels are required, for example with retaining bolts or shear bolts where failure is required at a specific load. Also see our Hoseclips and Hoseclamps section for Automotive fluid and air system clamping solutions.
Material Key
A1
A1 Stainless Steel - also known as grade 303. A general purpose grade of stainless steel but with better fabrication/machining properties than grade 304
A2
A2 Stainless Steel - also known as grade 304 or 18/8. A general purpose grade of stainless steel.
A4
A4 Stainless Steel - also known as grade 316 or 18/8/3. A higher corrosion resistant, marine grade of stainless steel.
A4-80
A4-80 Stainless Steel - identical corrosion resistance to A4-70 but with a higher tensile strength equivalent to that of 8.8 high tensile steel.
Alum
Aluminium - Alumium is a lightweight, strong and corrosion resistant material. As the temperature lowers, aluminium actually increases in strength. It is also non-magnetic, carries a current and does not spark easily.
BO
Black oxide high tensile steel class 12+ - a high tensile non-stainless grade with a black oxide finish offering limited corrosion resistance
BRASS
Brass - offers an attractive, corrosion resistant finish.
Bronze
Phosphor Bronze - normally used in conjunction with brass fasteners.
BZP
Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) Steel - non-stainless standard steel grade offering a basic level of corrosion resistance.
BZP-10
Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) high tensile steel class 10 - a higher tensile non-stainless grade for nuts, with a basic level of corrosion resistance.
BZP-10.9
Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) Class 10 high tensile steel - a high strength non-stainless grade for screws and bolts, with a basic level of corrosion resistance.
BZP-12.9
Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) high tensile steel class 12 - a higher tensile non-stainless grade for screws and bolts, with a basic level of corrosion resistance.

BZP
300HV

Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) Steel with 300HV hardness - non-stainless standard steel grade offering a basic level of corrosion resistance, but with 300HV hardness.
BZP-8
Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) high tensile steel class 8 - the general purpose non-stainless grade for nuts, offering a basic level of corrosion resistance.
BZP-8.8
Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) Class 8 high tensile steel - the general purpose non-stainless grade for screws and bolts, with a basic level of corrosion resistance.
BZP-G5
Bright Zinc Plated (BZP) USA grade 5 high tensile steel - equivalent to UK class 8, a general purpose non-stainless grade with a basic level of corrosion resistance.
BZP-TH
Through (Thru) Hardened Bright Zinc Plated Steel - carburised or through hardened washer in Bright Zinc Plate finish that has been treated to improve strength
Copper
Copper Alloy - Copper has good corrosion resistance and high tensile strength, allowing it to withstand high-pressure and high temperature conditions. It is a highly ductile and malleable material, enabling copper washers to create tighter seals and withstand vibration better than steel. Copper also provides excellent thermal and electrical conductivity.
Duplex
Duplex Stainless Steel 1.4462 - a type of stainless steel, which has greater corrosion resistance than A4 / 316 and a high tensile strength of minimum 700 N/mm2. Also known as 318LN.
MZP
Mechanically Plated Zinc Steel - mechanically plated to help prevent hydrogen embrittlement
Nylon
Plastic (Nylon Polyamide) - a tough lightweight plastic, strong at low temperatures, with excellent resistance to chemicals, and features favourable sliding friction behaviour.
ZnFlk
Zinc Flake coated steel - Coated with superior mechanically applied zinc lasting 480 hours in the salt spray test.
ZnFlk-10.9
Zinc Flake coated high tensile steel class 10 - a higher tensile non-stainless grade for screws and bolts. Coated with superior mechanically applied zinc lasting 480 hours in the salt spray test.
ZnFlk-12.9
Zinc Flake coated high tensile steel class 12 - a higher tensile non-stainless grade for screws and bolts. Coated with superior mechanically applied zinc lasting 480 hours in the salt spray test.

ZnFlk
300HV

Zinc Flake coated steel with 300HV hardness - Coated with superior mechanically applied zinc lasting 480 hours in the salt spray test, and with 300HV hardness.
ZnFlk-8
Zinc Flake coated high tensile steel class 8 - a high tensile non-stainless grade for screws and bolts and nuts. Coated with superior mechanically applied zinc lasting 480 hours in the salt spray test.
