Large Washers

Also known as a fender or repair washer, this very popular type or washer offers a large external diameter which allows any force from the bolted or screwed assembly to be distributed over a large surface area. Ideally suited, therefore, in assemblies that use soft or delicate materials such as timber, plasterbaord or plastics.

A large diameter washer where the external diameter is typically three times that of the nominal internal diameter. Also known as Form G, and complies with DIN 9021. Please note that due to manufacturing limitations, all nylon variants of these items are only "similar to" and not "in absolute accordance with" the standard specified.

These washers for timber or wood construction are of a robust design that distribute the force a bolt head and nut apply to the wood when tightened. By spreading the load over a larger surface area, the large diameter washer will protect the timber around the fixing point from being crushed or splitting. This type R variant features the usual round hole, but the standard does feature a square holed type (type V). These timber construction washers are especially useful for softwood and aluminium, and their additional support will aid the structural integrity of the joint. The increased bearing surface of the washer will also help accommodate the movement in the wood as the timber expands and contracts with changes in humidity.

Robust flat washer with a large square shape rather than the more usual round. Often used in timber construction and in applications at risk of seismic activity. To DIN 436.

These washers, as the name suggests, are used in heavy duty applications. Much thicker than other forms of equivalent nominal sizes, tough and corrosion resistant with a larger outer diameter. Manufactured to DIN 7349 and used with bolts with heavy type spring pins, where a larger bearing surface area is required.

Also known as a penny or repair washer, this very popular type offers a large external diameter; it is therefore able to spread the load of the joint over a wider area. This is a useful feature when working with softer materials. Dimensions shown are approximate. Please note that hole clearances can be generous on these washers.
